AN UPDATE TO DRAGON LADY TODAY

Does Sunset Makes Sense? That’s the title of a new final chapter that I have written for my book DRAGON LADY TODAY. I have republished it as a second edition, and you can buy it from Amazon’s US site here, and their British site here. You can also find it on Amazon’s foreign-language websites, but make sure you choose the new edition published on October 15th.

The new chapter takes up where the first edition of the book ended, in 2015. It tells how the U-2 defeated plans for it to be replaced by the Global Hawk UAV. The various subsequent upgrades to the sensors, displays and navigation systems are described, along with the notable developments in networking. Operational changes are covered as well. Finally, I discuss the pros and cons of the USAF’s plan to retire the Dragon Lady in favour of satellites and the stealthy Penetrating-ISR UAV.

If you have already purchased DRAGON LADY TODAY, email me at UKdragon@aol.com with the answer to this question: “What is the title of the first chapter of the book?” I will then send you a .pdf file of the new final chapter.

Folks, please consider making a donation to help me continue telling the story of this remarkable aircraft. I maintain this website and another devoted to U-2 history at my own expense. I am often invited to give talks, which I do without charge. I respond by email to questions that I receive. The income from sales of my books only covers a fraction of my costs.

A secure means of sending $20 or the equivalent in other currencies using PayPal or Credit/Debit cards is available on the “Donate” page of my sister website http://www.dragonladyhistory.com.
